New CIES Monthly Report: illustrative tendencies

The International Institute for Sports Research has published an analytical review with numbers characterizing the decade

The 49th CIES Monthly Report focuses on a wide range of issues addressed over a long period of time (2009–2019).

The conclusions drawn by Swiss analysts (based on objective - digital - data) are very revealing, somewhat unexpected...

Indice 1: average age of European football players

It is 26.07 years (as of October 1 of the current year). In Favbet League it is slightly younger - 25.60.

Indice 2: number of homegrown players involved in matches

In the Favbet League squads of the 2019/20 season, 18.5% of the players are homegrown and trained by their clubs. This is higher than the European average - 17.2%. However, it is interesting that for decades the corresponding indicator on the continent was measured by 23.2%, that is, during this time the clubs of the Old World began to have less trust in their own players.

Indice 3: Foreigners in European squads

Now they come out at 41.8% of the total number of players. For decades, it was 34.7%. In Ukraine, there is one of the lowest numbers on the continent: 23.2%.

Indice 4: employee loyalty

From October 1, 2018 to October 1, 2019, the squads playing in the European leagues were renewed by 42.9%. In the Favbet League it is 38.7%.

As we can see, globalization in the football system continues to grow.
