The meeting was attended by UAF General Secretary Ihor Hryshchenko, newly appointed Technical Director Ihor Dedyshyn, and UPL President Ievhen Dykyi. The discussion lasted for almost six hours, as participants considered a wide range of vital topics concerning the current state and future of Ukrainian club football.
During the session, Ihor Dedyshyn presented an updated format of the Ukrainian Cup for the 2025/26 season, which will include participation from the top teams of regional competitions. The participants reached a preliminary agreement on the competition’s structure and the model for broadcasting matches via the UPL TV platform, while also discussing certain organizational and technical aspects of match operations.
The UAF also unveiled a project to create an open National U-19 League, which aims to reform youth competitions in this age category. The idea received overall approval from the clubs. Similarly, the proposed renewed format for the Ukrainian Women’s Championship was met with positive feedback.
UPL clubs suggested adopting international best practices to modernize the refereeing system, and UAF representatives supported this initiative as part of broader reforms to improve officiating quality.
Additionally, the UAF shared details of new educational initiatives, including the establishment of a Football Education and Leadership Center, which will offer programs not only for coaches but also for managers and other football industry professionals.
Overall, the meeting was highly productive, covering topics such as club licensing, football justice bodies, and other joint initiatives. The parties agreed to continue work on the discussed reforms and innovations, building on the agreements reached during the meeting.
