This week, Frankfurt am Main hosted the European Leagues 50th General Assembly, marking the organization’s 20th anniversary. Organized by Deutsche Fußball Liga, the event brought together representatives from 40 national football leagues across 34 countries, along with the leadership of major football organizations, to discuss key issues in the development of European football.
The Ukrainian Premier League delegation, a member of European Leagues since 2009, was led by UPL President Ievgen Dykyi. During the event, the delegation held a series of bilateral meetings with executives from top European football leagues, including the English Premier League, Spain’s LaLiga, Germany’s DFL, Italy’s Serie A, and others.
The UPL expressed its gratitude to all European leagues that continue to support Ukrainian football during these exceptionally challenging times. Additionally, preliminary agreements were finalized regarding future support for Ukrainian professional football.
A key part of the General Assembly was the election of the Board of Directors and the appointment of the Association’s President and Vice President for the next four-year term (2025–2029).
As a result of the vote, Claudius Schäfer (Swiss Football League) was elected as the new President of European Leagues, while Mathieu Moreuil (English Premier League) was appointed Vice President. The Board of Directors now includes representatives from Belgium, Denmark, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Scotland, and Slovakia.
The Ukrainian Premier League congratulates its international colleagues on their appointments and remains committed to unity and strengthening the representation of national leagues on the international stage.
